Masquelier's OPCs as carrier of information

Research demonstrated that the nutritional benefits that Masquelier’s OPCs have on the human body cover a vast range of body functions. These seemingly unrelated effects rest on 4 functions of OPCs: they help produce and protect collagen; they support the circulatory system and stimulate circulation; they scavenge free radicals and regenerate vitamin C.

When you take a food supplement containing Masquelier's OPCs, you're not just taking a tablet or capsule that contains a "botanical extract". Without a doubt, such a product contains OPCs as they were developed and qualified by the pioneering French scientist. But what you really take is the information that Mother Nature "stored" on the specific "hardware" we call OPCs. That's the information your body needs to "know what to do" once you have ingested the product. It is this specific information that Masquelier was the first to detect and explore and that grew into the enormous "body of knowledge" created by him and the numerous scientists, doctors and nutritionists who, over the course of many decades, researched and still continue to research Masquelier's OPCs' unique benefits.

This website doesn't offer Masquelier's OPCs but is intended to help you in your search for that piece of information that highlights the specific benefit of his OPCs that is most relevant for you today and tomorrow. Just search for the topic or item of interest by typing the search-word in the “search bar” that opens when you click on the magnifying glass icon. This will bring forward the relevant blogposts/articles. Also, in the search bar, when you click on “benefits”, you'll find a long list of “instant relief” type benefits. This is how you'll discover that this informative website covers a never-ending series of amazing scientific discoveries that was set in motion during the late 1940's by the French scientist. Just remember that all this information is "stored" in the "treasure trove" we call "OPCs".

It was in 1947 that Jack Arthur Masquelier discovered the phyto-nutrient we have come to know as OPCs. He discovered how to isolate this natural compound from plant materials in the process of preparing his first Thesis for his Doctorate at the Biological and Medical Research Faculty of Bordeaux University. (see picture above) He also discovered the positive effects of his OPCs on weakened blood vessels and subsequently a finished product was launched on the French market. It was recommended for supporting circulatory health and thus became popular among women whose work required them to stand or walk for long periods because it helped the blood to circulate through in the legs and thus prevent varicose veins. It also regulated capillary fragility, which is why dentists used it to prevent excessive bleeding when extracting teeth.

What no one, including Masquelier, realised at the time was that his discovery of OPCs would lead to many more important discoveries. For instance, Masquelier discovered that OPCs can be extracted from a number of different plant sources. And so, he developed and patented several methods that described how to extract OPCs from French Maritime Pine bark and Vitis Vinifera seeds. Over time, the range of nutritional, cosmetic and therapeutic uses of these OPCs turned out to be far broader than originally expected. Clinical research showed that Masquelier's OPCs have positive effects in treating the circulatory side-effects of diabetes, of rheumatoid arhritis, impaired vision, macular degeneration, varicose veins, haemorrhoids, skin care, sports injuries, edema, and premature ageing.

All in all, years of study and research have demonstrated that the nutritional effects that Masquelier’s OPCs have on the human body are particularly compelling since their benefits cover such a vast range of body functions. All these seemingly unrelated effects rest on 4 key functions of OPCs: they help produce and protect collagen; they support the circulatory system and stimulate circulation; they scavenge free radicals and regenerate vitamin C. Given the results of the scientific research and clinical trials conducted with Masquelier's OPCs, one may very well conclude that these high performance phytonutrients combined with a well balanced diet and regular exercise might be one of the most prized contributions to our eternal quest for health and wellbeging.

In my book OPCs, Dr. Masquelier’s Mark on Health I pay tribute to Masqueliers' life and extensive research work, which gave him satisfaction and above all much pleasure. He wasn't chasing the awards or praise he nevertheless deserves. During one of our many encounters, Masquelier told me: "Contentment is not something that is part of my character. All my life I have done my work, engaged in research, kept searching, erred, abandoned wrong tracks, looked at new ones, had my doubts. ... In the course of my life, results presented themselves that were a logical consequence of my work. Every work bears fruit. I dedicated myself to research because I was curious, because it was my profession. I did my job, conscientiously, also with passion, but not necessarily with the abstract objective in mind to 'save mankind' or for any other similarly noble goal." Perhaps, this is the reason why his OPCs so kindly and unreservedly share their knowledge with people who are wise enough to take them.
